Inbreeding ?!?

ok, silly question , maybe ....... If I have 1 Roo in a flock , and he fathers a batch of chicks, can I put the new hens back in the pen with Daddy or will that be inbreeding ?!?!

Chickens aren't like mammals.

You can inbreed something like 25 times before they start to have problems. I am not sure what the exact number is, but it is pretty large.

I was wondering the same thing. We had Cockatiels growing up and they inbred to the point that some babies would randomly die (they were a couple months old) and I had one who would constantly scream.

I wasn't sure if chicken genetics were that close...especially since some of ours are all from the same hatchery!
