I have a BLR Wyandotte rooster with a flock of two BLR hens, 1 black Australorp and 3 Easter Egger hens. I want to hatch the eggs of my BLR's. Do I have a good chance of fertile eggs with a ratio of one roo to 6 girls? Is there anything anyone suggests to increase chances of fertile eggs? We live in NY and they have been in their coop most of the time lately due to the weather. Thanks! Tracy

With 1 to 6, you probably already have 100% fertility. Sometimes a roo with have a couple of favorites and ignore everyone else, but if that was the case with yours, his favorites would likely have bald backs and you'd know it for sure! My layer flock has a 1 to 12 ratio, and they're 100% fertile...
