Hi

Well we isolated the maran rooster with the maran hens, the barnvelder with the barnvelder hens and the favoralles. Only the favoralles laid well. We took the 30 eggs or so collected in 10 days and have incubated them for 23 days. We also added moisture 5 days ago. My daughter rotated them twice a day. We tried to look with a flashlight but can't really tell what to look for. Nothing is happening and some eggs are starting to crack.

we think something should have hatched by now. I hate to throw out good eggs. I do see some dark blobs in some eggs. Some eggs looks runny. Some have little spots. Please help. next time is there a better incubator I can get? My 14 year old daughter has really worked hard. With no hatch, she has not much 4-h to show, since her favoralle rooster's crown fell off.
thanks

At this stage the viable eggs should be hatching (2 days late), or showing up completely dark when candled, except for the air cell. The ones that are "atarting to crack" sounds like they are hatching? Keep the humidity at around 65% in there and leave them for at least another day before bothering them. Good luck and fingers crossed you'll get some chicks!
