I have seen some people put them inside a sandwich bag before opening. Though I don't know if that contains the smell or just the grossness.

When your hatch date?!

That's a good idea! I'll bear that in mind incase I have to do eggtopsies for any of the next batch ( I really hope not!) eggs are due to hatch a week tomorrow, so if we have any hatchers I will be sure to put their pictures up!

If I have any suspect eggs, I put them in a bucket and carry them to the compost pile where I do eggtopsies. I've had some explode out there.

Just a but of advice, is this normal? The chick is alive and still moving, but wasn't sure if this was right? It's on day 17.
