I last hatched with the whole "January 28th" group and immediately went through withdrawals. So....I have 18 EE eggs in the incubator (but I'm not too hopeful about fertility) and bought a second incubator. Then I got my handy woman groove on and made a homemade incubator too. I just set 64 additional eggs in my new incubator and homemade one. Mostly RIRs but also 13 leghorns and 4 bantams. I am so excited!

Wow! That's a LOT of eggs!

What does your homemade incubator look like? How many does it hold?

Cheers!

thanks for your reply! My homemade incubator is just a smallish styrofoam cooler with a couple of vent holes and a very small watt light bulb for heat. Pretty primitive, lol.

Kind of sad update: I was unsure about the fertility of the EE eggs I have on day eleven so I decided to candle them tonight and found that out of eighteen eggs, only 3 were developing. Oh well, three is better than none...

My homemade incubator is holding fourteen eggs right now.
