Incubating California quail eggs

So, I have been incubating California quail one pipped on day 23, but it is now day 25 and no zipping has happened. And the pip that did happen started to turn leathery brown. So I decided to make the hole a bit bigger then the chick got its beak stuck outside of the egg. So then I tried to peel away the shell but not the stuff that's right bellow it (forgot the name of it). And now I think the chick is getting sticky wrapped and I don't know what to do because it hasn't hatched yet. Do y'all know what to do?
 
Ya the chick hatched and it's doing really well now.
