I am super excited to be about to starting incubation on some call duck eggs I got off eBay. They didn’t ship far only an hour and a half away. But I went and picked them up when I got a message that they got to my local post office instead of waiting until tomorrow to get them.

The guy gave me lots of extra eggs. I now have 24 call eggs. I am not confident in hatching these little eggs as the others I have in the past.

my little egglets.

Because they are supposed to be harder to hatch than normal eggs due to their short bills and necks
when Are you going to start the incubation? There’s loads of articles here on BYC to help you learn how to assist hatching, incubation and probably specific threads and articles about call duck eggs.

do you know why you were sent many extras? that’s what would‘ve made Me feel less confident, but I’ve never hatched eggs anyways...

keep us posted on your incubation process! We love seeing those little chickies :jumpy:jumpy

He offered to take care of me when I said I would drive and get the eggs instead of shipping them. So I think he shipped that many to make up for the fact that they were shipped all the same. He wasn’t really up for a local pickup so did this.

I have assisted hatches before but never with calls and when I did with black East Indies things weren’t as easy as they were with larger ducks. This ducklings will be so tiny. But so very adorable!

Took my time and did a real candle tonight. I am Down to 7 of my wintertime refrigerator eggs out of the 12 I set, I had 2 that quit or red ring on me and three clears that I pulled. The others look ok. I will candle again Wednesday most likely when I do my official candle on my other eggs that are incubating. See where we are.

here are the candles
