Hi! I am trying to hatch chicks for the first time. I have a brinsea mini eco. It holds 10 eggs and I turn them myself. I got 4 Ayam Cemani eggs, but then my eBay Phoenix eggs came much sooner than expected. I put them into the incubator 5 days after I set the AC eggs. So I've made a mistake for sure. Does anyone have any thoughts on how I should go about lockdown?

Have you got a second incubator?

:welcome

At day 18 for the first ones I would mark the air cells and put them back in so the lowest point of the air cell is facing up. This is where they should pip. Then I would wait an extra day to go into lockdown, unless you have an early pipper. This gives the others an extra day before being in higher humidity and puts them at day 14 so they won't need to be turned. I would also keep an eye on the air cells to make sure they loose sufficient moisture loss before having to higher the humidity because you are not going to have a lot of time after the first ones hatch unless they are early to bring it back down to allow the others time to loose more moisture.

Thank you for your help! I candeled the eggs last night and had only 3 embryos in the incubator. 2 AC and 1 Phoenix. So I put the 1 Phoenix egg underneath my broody hen where the other 7 of the eBay eggs are. I candled those eggs as well and The eggs under my lady bird are actually doing better than the incubator eggs. All but 2 of her eggs are developing. I'm left with 2 AC in the incubator to go into lockdown on Wednesday! Thank YOU again!!!
