incubating delima

They can be in there for 3 days but I would remove chicks 24 hours after they hatch since there are a lot. Offer them food and water (with a little sugar) when you move them to the brooder. You can put the incubator in a steamy bathroom to reduce humidity loss.

how much sugar in the water. I know when i make hummingbird food i do 1 part sugar to 3 parts water. is that about right?

Oh you just need a tablespoon or two. I also add vitamins and electrolytes to the water for an extra boost, as well as make a small dish of chick food+water to make mush. It's a good way to get them started on food :)

Thanks... I made the Water sugar mix and put the first 5 chicks in the brooder they are drinking often. I put medicated chick starter in a food trough and they are eating... I wonder if I should still make the mush you spoke of incase any of the chicks still to come need it

Mine lived the mush and ate a lot more when I put some in there. It's not necessary though if everyone is eating
