Incubating Eggs for the First Time!

Hey y'all, I'll be receiving some hatching eggs in just two days from now. I have never incubated eggs before, so please do share all of the important do's and don'ts.
From what I have heard, I am supposed to let the eggs rest for 24 hours before incubating them? is this correct? pointy side facing down? does it matter?

Glad you are here. I would suggest some reading that will answer most questions you may have. This is also good reading for peeps that have hatched some eggs already as well. Never too late to learn new things.
