Incubating Guinea eggs from Guinea hens raised with roosters

Hello everyone,

I have Guineas I am raising along with some chickens/roosters in my coop. I have about 15 Guineas in total and I am sure from hearing the calls and looking at the wattles that we have about 6+ males and the rest females. They chickens and Guineas started laying eggs about two months ago and we are now getting a large amount of eggs from both. Though I do enjoy eating guinea eggs, I have been wanting to produce some Guinea keets by incubating the eggs from my Guineas.

My concern or insecurity in incubating these Guinea eggs from my birds is in reading that Guineas and chickens can interbreed and produce mixed birds. Is this really the case when both are raised together and when eggs are incubated or is there a much larger percentage that the Guineas will produce Guinea only keets from their eggs? I cannot separate them at this moment as I do not have the space to do so, which is why I am asking if I can just incubate these eggs and expects keets only.

If I was to separate them, what is the recommend time for Guineas for them to produce only Guinea keets?

I would appreciate any additional information, and advice on this.

I'm assuming you have some male guineas in your flock? If so, why not set some eggs and see what happens? Spend some time observing your flock, and see who is doing all of the breeding.

Many people keep guineas and chickens together and the incidence of the cross breed is very few. In most cases the people that are getting the hybrids are doing so by caging a rooster with a guinea hen in order to intentionally produce the hybrids.

Unless you are actually seeing your roosters mating with the guinea hens, I would not be concerned about any cross breeding.

Just edited my post to include we have Guinea males and yes I am trying to see if we just incubate them and see what we get but would prefer to make sure we only have Guinea keets and nothing weird lol.

The hybrid birds are pretty cool looking, but sterile. They also do not live as long. I assume the females do lay eggs, but the eggs are non viable.

Just out of curiosity,can you sex a guinea hybrid by chicken sexing ways?Will males have certain characteristics that girls don’t?
