incubating mutt eggs

just set some eggs 12/30/11 at 10:30 am. they are any mix of pekin/cayuga/runner.any tips for what to during the incubation period, i've studied alot but books dont always teach you everything. i have 8 eggs and would be more than happy with 50% hatch. i'm using a little giant with an automatic turner.

50% is probably a good guess when using an incubator for those breeds. I've given up on incubators because no matter what they always seem to give you poor results in comparison with my other option: Broodhens. 50% seems to be an average number, 80-90 being really ocassional, and 0% being rare (but not as rare as you ever hope

).

Last winter I hathd 2 sets of runner/ campbell mixes using a forced air LG. First time I set 4 eggs. All 4 hatched. 2nd time I set 8 eggs. 5 hatched. I didnt do anything different from hatching chicken eggs just left them in longer. It takes 28 days for ducks.
