Incubating Newbie- Temp question :)

What model incubator are you using? Can you explain what you mean when you say it's set to 99.5 but the thermometer reads 101.1?.

I have a Janoel12. It is a cheap incubator however the reviews were pretty good and several people on here have had good experience with it. I am brand new to incubating so I didn't want to invest a lot right now. The display temperature is 37.5c (99.5f) but I have an independent thermometer and hygrometer inside the incubator to make sure the temp is correct and that one is saying it is 101.1 and 70% humidity.

Your humidity is too high for incubation. If you have water in the unit take it all out and run dry for a day to note your base humidity. Also performing a salt test on the hygrometer to calibrate it is recommended. Use the search line at top of page to learn how easy a "salt test" is.

I incubate at 25-35% RH and hatch at 70+% Rh. Using a salt test to calibrate hygrometer and oral thermometer to calibrate temp on combo unit will go a long way to saving both your sanity and ultimately your hatch rate.
