Incubating quail eggs for the first time : )

I bought a 5lb bag of Manna Pro Gamebird/Showbird 24% protein. Is this going to be enough for them?? I've read different things that say 24-28% protein but just want to make sure. I don't want my little babies dying bc of me giving them the wrong food. The bag says its a starter/grower feed for quail but so does the 20% protein dumor chick feed......

24% is the normal percentage you want to feed adult hens. Gamebird chick starter is usually 30%. If you can't find it locally, turkey starter is normally available at any feed store, its 28% protein and works fine but must be ground first.

Youre not hurting anything feeding them 24% but they will grow bigger and faster with the 30%.

Well today is day 7, I just finished candling and 10 had little moving embryos. I guess the 11th one I thought was good was just a small blood ring. Here's a pic of the cracked egg. Still going strong! I'll try to candle again on day 14 before lockdown.

Today is day 12! I candled last night and the embryos are so big all I could see was the air sack. I had 2 eggs that were see through with a blood ring and brown dot. Looked very dead. I opened them and they must of died around day 7, they didn't stink at all though which I thought was strange. So I think I have 8 now that will make it to lockdown on thursday, cracked egg included! All 8 eggs left are shaking and wiggling in the incubator, hope they keep it up and hatch out strong. I'm not going to get any sleep this weekend! Lol

My 8 eggs are in lockdown now...temp is staying around 100-101 and I have the humidity up to 63%. I had to put 2 sponges inside to up the humidity but it worked! There's two holes in the incubator and I can add water with a baby medicine dropper if I need to without opening the incubator. So far so good, now its the real waiting game!
