Incubating questions.

Last year I tried to incubate about 30 guinea eggs. It didn't work. Im thinking maybe I didn't do the humidity like I was supposed to. I don't have an egg turner, I just turned them every morning and night myself. Other then that time, I have never tried to hatch out eggs from an incubator. I just have chicks shipped or broody hens. I have a styrofoam hovabator.

1. how long do eggs have to sit outside in the heat for them not to be 'hatchable'? I found two guinea eggs today, and I want to try it again, this time staying on top of it. I think the eggs are new, but im not 100% sure.

2. For guineas, what temperature? I thought 98 degrees F , but just wanted to check.

Is there anything else I may be doing wrong or I need to know?

for chickens the temp is 100F.
for 18 days turn the eggs dont touch the eggs the last 3 days.(chickens)
have a little dish of water in there with them
idk about guinas

What temp were they sitting out in? I would try incubating them and see what develops. I don't know what guinea eggs look like, can you candle them in a couple days to check for development?

The incubation period for a guinea fowl egg to hatch is 28 days.
The length of the incubation period can vary between 26 and 30 days, if the temperature or humidity is incorrect in the incubator.
The correct temperature in the incubator is 37.5 degrees Celsius or 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit, decreasing to 36.5 degrees Celsius or 98.5 degrees Fahrenheit during the final three days of incubation.
The correct humidity is 65% until day 25 and then rising to 80% until day 28.
The guinea fowl eggs need to be turned daily and this can either be done by hand, or alternatively by an automatic egg turner.
The final day of guinea fowl rotation is day 25 when the eggs no longer need to be turned.
A day or two before the scheduled hatching of the guinea fowl eggs, add clean water to all the troughs to raise the humidity.

I actually found more eggs a few hours ago. I think in the morning imgoing to put them in the bator..Im probably going to cut the top off of an egg carton and place 12 eggs in the other end. (the part you put the eggs in) I will get a piece of wood or something and lean the egg carton on the opposite side each day. I know it doesn' really make sense how I explained it, but I think it will work out. Thanks everyone, and please leave more comments if you do something different.

Ok--one more question. Like I said, I have my eggs in a carton with the top cut off..which way should I lay the eggs in the incubator? Pointy end up or down?
