Incubating Silkie Eggs From Chicken Junkie

My understanding is that you wait the six hours after closing it all up in the ziploc bag when you're testing, so that the salt can release the standard amount of moisture into the air and that enclosed environment can reach - oh my god i hear cheeping from my hatcher.

oh my god.

it's cheeping!

::ahem::

erm, salt, right amount of moisture in that environment, then take the reading. Yeah.

But - my walmart hydrometer seems to change pretty quickly. I can see it at 50% and add some water to my paper towels in there and watch it begin to rise quickish. I'd say give it a couple of hours in there, when you first put it in, to equalize to that environment, and then adjust as needed.
