GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay....started a batch today bought at the natural food store...brown eggs, cracked one, found a blastocyte, ("bullseye") so warmed 'em up and put 'em in the 'bator....Nice dark brown eggs for $2.35 a doz....last sale date 9/2, so...Aug 19?

Have a question on this: We live near the Amish country with many farms using free-range eggs. What we see while driving past look to be sexlinks in the yards. How does this affect what you are going to hatch? You'd get brown egg layers of F2 parentage? ( mutts?)
I wonder if the Amish generally hatch their own or order sexlinks from a nursery. I grew up on a family farm and mom always ordered rather than the broody thing. She wanted eggs, not meat.
I think I'll ask next time we shop at the Amish local bakery.

Day 3 I have noticed a strange dark spot on one of the eggs when held up to the light in my incubator don't really know what this is it seems to be right up against the shell on the inside?? kinda clueless on what that is its about the size of a dime. PS. I got my eggs for about $1.50 and they were shipped in localy the morning I bought them, well that's what the people at the store said anyway.

Heck, for +/- $2 why not give it a whirl?? I may put some store bought eggs in this weekend with my 2 batches of shipped eggs due to arrive Saturday.

I have a house in the middle of Amish country in Maine and I am pretty sure atleast the ones near the house order thiers from the hatchery. One fella told me he got his from Mcmurrays.

If they're sexlinks, well, if they're anything -- who knows what breed the roos in with them are, anyway.

If people wanted to raise them seriously, I don't think they'd want to hatch the store bought eggs, because we don't know what they are...but I live near a large town that allows people to have 10 hens (no roos) and these aren't people who want to get into raising/breeding chickens....so if I have cheap chicks they won't care what variety they are.
