I’m looking for some info/ tips from people that have used these type of trays.

I’ve recently gone halves on a new auto RCOM Suro with my sister.
I’m going to incubate some quail again using eggs from my own flock.

This time I wanted to try the upright in egg trays method for incubating and hatching. I can only get hold of the 12 egg clear plastic quail boxes. Will these be okay and if so do I need to modify the trays in any way; such as make holes in the bottom of each egg compartment? Obviously I’d be using the boxes open or cutting them in half and using each half for a dozen eggs.

The Suro tilts quite far when it turns the eggs; has anyone had any trouble with the eggs falling out of the trays?

Also can the chicks cope with hatching in the smooth plastic trays and do they usually make it to the flat ground in the incubator easily?

Many thanks to anyone that can provide some wisdom.
