Incubating with a heating pad???? Need Advice ASAP

ok thanks for the info...Yes its VERY OLD..lol it stays on till someone turns it off.

Question the heating pad wouldnt make the syrophone cooler too hot to melt or catch fire would it?

I use to use this heating pad under some newborn pups in winter when I fostered. It worked great.

Also on the stand maybe making a little wire stand could I put some of the nonslide cabnit stuff over the wire for the chicks??

Also I thought about using the egg carton metod this way would it still work and how does the egg carton metod work. Do you just put the eggs in it...which side little side down and big side up? Do you prop it up one day and another the next or do you do this 3 times a day like hand turning?

Sorry so many questions...

Yep I use the shelf liner on my wire stand works great. I also use the carton method. I don't tilt my carton though I cut the bottoms out of each of the cups and that way if you just slide it slowly to one side or the other all the eggs turn at the same time. I do this so that all the eggs stay the same temp. I found when I propped the cartoon the eggs that were higher were not staying the right temp. Not sure if on low it would get hot enough to melt it. Good question. I use the plastic igllo cooler for mine. Just because we had one in the shed that had a crack and was headed for the dump. Maybe put it in there for a few hours and see before you go any feather. Or just put something under it that isn't flamable. First thing that popped in my mind are those plastic things they sell to go on cookies sheets now, won't burn but will still help conduct heat. Humm will have to think on that one. Good luck. if you have a small plastic igloo cooler I would just use it. I love that the lid has hinges so you never have to take the lid completely off. I also like my bator becasue it doesn't lose heat that fast since the heat comes from the bottom and isn't removed when the lid is off like most bators.

I have hatched eggs on an heating pad before. I put it in a drawer and made sure the drawer was not messed with other than turning. All I did was put the heating pad on the lowest temperature and put a hydrometer, thermometer and a small cup of water in there.
