So this egg is supposed to be at day 18. But I’m not sure. I don’t want to stop turning it too early but don’t know what happens if I stop turning it too late. I can see the chick moving inside. Should I stop turning these or let them go? There’s two others that look similar. The chick hasn’t darkened the whole egg and I can still see a lot of veining. The veining doesn’t show up well in the picture but it is there.

Did you start the day count after waiting 24 hours in the incubator or immediately after you placed it in the incubator?

if you can hear one peeping thats internally pipped its time to stop turning for sure lol ...

I can’t hear any chirping but can see movement when they’re candled. It’s only my third time hatching eggs and these just seem behind. But I’ll give them another day until lockdown.

I have some pure Barbeziuex chicken eggs going into lock down tomorrow at 1:30 pm. They kind of look like yours..........I installed a thick nylon cord to prevent the eggs from getting knocked around from the hatching chicks.

That’s an interesting idea. I like it. I’ll have to try that since I do worry about the eggs getting knocked around. And I feel a bit better about putting them into lockdown now.
The pictures online of the chicken eggs candled at different days is what had me worried. They looked like they were way behind schedule according to the pictures I was referencing. I was worried about them going into lockdown too early and dying. I don’t even know if that’s a thing though.

I think a day early is not going to change anything, but if we open the incubator late while they pip the moisture may get sucked out of the piped egg and our lock down will be messed up.
