Incubation Detail for Courtnix Quail

I just hatched my first ever batch. Day 16 ended at 9:00 pm. The first one to hatch was at about 10:00 pm, so technically at the beginning of day 17. By 12 noon (middle of day 17) the next day, 10 had hatched. I got one more on day 20. That was it out of 57 eggs (received in the mail.)

Mine usually start day 16 and can go to 18 try not to open incubator too much its hard not to. Don't get alarmed when 1 or 2 hatch then none for a while you will always have some over achievers that gotta get out quick. they are a good thing just teach them to eat and drink and they will teach all the newcomers. I must warn you this is really addictive 1 hatch and you will be hooked!

They say you can leave them in for 24 hours I take them out when they are fluffy and dry. I can't stop my girlfriend from opening the incubator I want to open it just as bad. I leave chicks in all day sometimes 12 hours or so it doesn't hurt them at all.

the one early one I had last hatch I left in overnight about 12 hours presently he is my largest bird the rest hatched the next day in the evening I left them overnight as well all them are doing ok

So for those of you who hatch chicken's and quail together in the same incubator (that's what I'm doing but it's a staggered hatch) is a 25%-30% humidity ok and then just up it during lock down or do I need it higher for the quail. I don't want to drown my chick's so not sure what to do about the humidity. I have an LG also but I'm afraid to use it the last two times I used if for chick's I only got one hatch the others all died at various ages before hatching. Sorry so many questions I just don't want to do it wrong.

We all ask questions thats why we are all here. I hatch both together all the time in fact almost always. I try to keep 45% humidity but its hard for me to maintain that until they start pipping then go up to 60-65% for hatching quail are really pretty tough you can hatch them at just about any humidity as long as its not too dry I hear of this "dry hatching" thing sounds crazy to me When humidty has gotten too low its not good, they don't do well. Most the time I just treat em all like chicken eggs they usually do well the only ones that haven't were shipped eggs and who knows what could have gone wrong. If you're gonna mix em up you need a hatcher or youll have to hand turn all the chicken eggs. The quail will get stuck under a turner and get squished. I use an old styrofoam bator for the last 2-3 days works, well for me.

Great Thank you. I have an old LG I can use that to hatch them in so I won't have to worry about the turner. Thanks everyone you have been so helpful. I will post once I start hatching and let you know!
