i don't have a second incubator, but here is the incubator that i have

i only need 3 more eggs because my cochin layed one this morning. the birds have been laying every day so i will probably have enough to fill the incubator on Monday

trick is to keep higher humidity to three days

so keep high humidity for three days and then lower it then then turn it on, on day 19 of the latest egg?

Well yeah, your not waiting it out for hopes of late hatching eggs. Toss those and run incubator dry for next hatching round. You want to grow out the air cells and need to run incubator dry again to grow them before next high humidity hatch time. It's not an ideal situation.

What's the maximum capacity on that thing, 8 eggs? I would absolutely not try risking a staggered hatch in that, collect your eggs fresh and set at once.

that is kind of what i was planning on.
i think i will candle the eggs that have been in the incubator and see if they have developed at all and decide from there

i have been adding eggs fresh. and there are obvious signs of development in 3 eggs! i am going to do a staggered hatch and see what happens, just to see.

It never works out to optimum when you try to stagger a hatch, especially in one of those tiny sealed type incubators.
I gather eggs for a week, then set them all at once.
I do not put eggs in daily, ever.
I use 2 gQf's, one to incubate day one to day 17, then a hatching bator to do day 17 to day 21, and then I allow the chicks to hang out & gain strength in the hatching bator before I remove them, and sanitize the hatching bator for the next hatch.
try to get another incubator if you are going to stagger.
Gather fresh clean eggs, store them air cell up in a carton, and hold them in an ice chest held at an optimum of 50 degrees.
I can store mine in the ice chest on the back porch.
If it is too cold where you are, bring your ice chest in & add blue ices to cool the eggs until time to set.
When you get a chance, buy the book "Guide to Better Hatching" by Janet Stromberg.......I highly recommend the book !

is it possible for an egg to be too thick to see much when candling or is it most likely infertile. it is one more than the other of the cochin eggs she lays generally thick eggs but this one i cant see through as much as the other.
