Ok so no luck with my last batch :( it was also my first. They were just a mix of back yard chicks. Now time again. I got all my thermometers now and my new white quail are in there even. I said I'd post daily about them this time cause if I had I dont think I would have lost them... I put a dozen in... it's at 45-50% and 99.7°. I know that gage reads a little low but I had it open and that spot is 2 degree colder rite there for some reason. But my other two read 99.. if anyone can offer me any info on quail I'd love to hear it. And the pic is from the farm I got my eggs from. I do not know if they ship or not but phone number is located at bottom location in Crandall tx.. birds on site you get your own eggs out and containers are provided. Really nice and friendly..

First question, did you calibrate your thermometer/hygrometers? If not, check this article out on calibrating thermometers. They're quite often wrong resulting in poor hatches.

It's not unusual to have hot/cold spots in your incubator and you can avoid bad spots in your incubator and rotate your eggs around to help regulate this.

What do you feel went wrong in your first hatch?

Well the temp was great the whole time till I took out my rockers. I thought it was to high tho but after inspection on the eggs they died at beginning of lockdown cause the temp was way to high in the bottom. Now I have 3 thermometers plus the gages it came with. I know now to drop the temp and get it to where I need and lockdown . All my fault tho

Day 4 now and I candled 8 of them babies, so far I see six with chick veins and I'll candle them again tonite cause it may just be to early. I can see inside all my quail eggs. Maybe cause there white quail . I see where most are having problems seeing in there eggs. Not mine. Temp is rite at 100 on one side and 99 on the side those babies are on. I have marked the hot spots under my trays also so I know on lockdown where to avoid. Now my chick oven is from online at walmart and my gages suck and something else started making noises too, I believe the motor. So after this hatch I'll be making my own chicken oven. But for now I hope these babies do good and this dam bator dont kill them or God help if my bator takes a crap on me. All good for now tho
