Incubator and humidity Q

Since I am a newb I'll be asking questions periodically that I cant find through the search feature. To start off with, I'm building a bator from an old dorm fridge, should there be a certain location for the water pan? Should it be at the bottom,top? Close to the heat source?

As far as the heat source, I'm not sure which direction to go yet, heat rope, light bulb, or those ceramic infrared heaters.

Thermo, I'm not to keen on the waterheater type, not sure about temp fluctuations with these units, thinking about the type for the reptile heaters. Thanks for any advise

In a dorm fridge, it will be easiest to mount a fan at the top and the water tray at the bottom. Arrange the fan to blow down onto the water.

Heatrope is vastly superior to light bulbs, and is cheap. Do not use a radiant type heater, you want to heat the air, not the eggs directly.

If you can afford a reptile heater, and can get a proportional one, you will be very happy with it. Just make sure it include 99.5F in it's range. There are many other controllers available and they are all better than a water heater.
