Incubator Brands

Just curious as to what type of incubators you like under $200 or so. I want to build one but don't have time right now since we are building our 12X20 flight run.

I'd love to hear pro's or con's too.

I'm assuming the fan kit and egg turner also. I heard about the new scrambler option and they pour right out of a beer tap....Just kidding.

Going to work on getting a Sportsman/Dickey in the future...but the cheap foams ones do for now

I have both Hovabators and Little Giants and I have to say the Hovas are better

genesis 1588 made by GQF. same people that make hova bator. Pre-set at 99.5 and you can get a turner with it for less than $200. just plug it in and ad water and walk away, no fuss, no muss just add water.

I built my first one & bought two Little Giant still air + turners for this year & I will use the one I built as a hatcher because I plan on rotating a lot of eggs this year. I will add fans to the still air bators though. Maybe by next year I will have the cabinet bator I want built.

I think I need to start looking around and checking for prices from one of these suppliers. on the genesis 1588 made by GQF is it still adjustable for temp?

I bought my bators & turners from TSC though. It was $85 for both. I added my own fans & ordered Quail Racks from Cutler Supply.

I know with quail, since they reproduce and turn over so fast, require a lot of incubator space. (15 laying hens will already give you 105 eggs to set a week! All ready a full Hova turner, then in 7 weeks, you'll have another 50 hens!) For $200.00, you could get a decent Hovabator, or a couple nice LGs. Or, you could make your own buying a $100.00 humidistat/thermostat combo, shown here: http://www.poultrysupply.com/reptile_incubators/thermostats.php , and make the cabinet for yourself, and the turners too.

That's just how I view it, and am making a bator soon! My hova still has enough room, at least till April 15th!

brinsea octagon 20--- for less than 200 bucks and it does everything but nurse them when they hatch! Dont let the small size fool you. It can hold in excess of 200 coutrnix eggs. I swear by Brinsea. I have hovas and lg's in both still and forced air models--- I use them out of necessity(need the bator space) But I am workin toward replacing all with Brinseas. If you have more money to work with go for the octagon 40... These are set it and forget it bators--- preset at 99.5(yet still adjustable if needed) auto turn, the whole unit disassembles and goes right into the dishwasher for cleansing. really well thought out bators. They also offer a great softwear app called EGGWISE that will track anything from incubations thru breeding stock and productivity. You can purchase directly from Brinsea through their website www.brinsea.com for the cheapest prices on new bators.
