Incubator Chicks in with hens

Ive got eggs in the incubator now - so excited... but when they hatch, or if! do i have to raise them under a heat lamp, or can i put them with the older hens??

Maybe you want to do some reading in the "raising chicks" section of the forum. Deffinitly a heat lamp, chickens can/will canabalize young.

Unless you have a hen that will mother them, they'll have to be in a brooder. Our little brooder is a 50 gallon tote w/a heat lamp. They're in there for about 3 weeks then it's out to the chick house for a while longer. HTH!

thanks! yeah will do. my friends just told me not to bother candling - and to leave the incubator shut but everyone says how important it is to candle. what do you thinkk??
