Incubator Crowding?

Sooo.... I decided I needed some eggs in my incubator and did a little shopping on ebay. I found a listing that I NEEDED and bid on it, and also placed a few really low bids on some other listings. I figured I'd probably be outbid on most of them. Much to my surprise, I won FOUR different auctions. On top of that, all of the sellers that I bought from were generous with the extras and none of the eggs were broken in shipping. I paid for 38 eggs and ended up with 51! They all fit in the incubator, but just barely, so my question now is, should I be worried about the incubator being so crowded?

On a side note, I'm pretty sure that the post office staff think I'm insane. Over the course of 3 days, the voicemails I received went from, "This is a message to inform Ms McGill that her package is available for pickup", to, "Erin, there is ANOTHER box of eggs here for you". It probably did not help that one of the sellers had labeled her box "CAUTION: LIVE EMBRYOS" in gigantic letters on several sides. That one definitely earned me some looks from everyone I passed on my way out to the car.

I hope crowding is not an issue...My incubator is built for 60 and I managed to wedge a few more than that in...bad idea I know but I can't deny these eggs life lol...my bator is on lockdown today so I will let you know how it goes in the next few days!

I've done the same thing my husband finally gave in and said I could incubate 6 more Button quails and now I have 2 incubators full with 91 eggs lol. Ebay is far too tempting for hatching eggs

On the over crowding thing I've noticed some of the eggs on the outside edges of my Hoverbator can be a lot cooler than the others so I mix them up a bit when turning to avoid them being in the cool spot too long

I've done this no problem. Usually with shipped eggs you will have some that are scrambled, never started, quitters, infertile, etc. So there are always some I removed after candling, and that makes more room. I usually candle day 7 and 14. Best of luck to you!

Wow, 91 eggs?? Now I don't feel so bad about my measly 51, lol. I guess if they were in a chicken's nest they'd all be jammed together. Thanks for the replies! The trick now will be to go at least another 21 days without ordering anymore eggs
