How long after you notice a pip hole are your chicks fully hatched? Approximately of course.

Noticed peeping and holes this morning. Not much progress 6 hours later

Small external pip up to 24 hours. But some pip and zip in minutes.

Mine must all be lazy. What's you opinion on helping them out a little? I've notice my hens pick at the shells around the pip hole.

I do help mine if they start to zip and stop making progress. Especially if the membrane starts to turn brown.

I can't give specific circumstances because I play it by what I'm seeing and hearing. Sometimes I guess right other times I wait to long.

I tried the school of thought that if they can't hatch on their own they shouldn't. But figured I incubated them my responsibility to help em if needed

It can take up to and even past 24 hours.

I assist, but not usually before 24 hours, unless there's signs of distress. I seldom have chicks that hatch quicker than 12 hours after I notice pips. If you try to assist before the vascular system between the chick and egg shuts down you can cause the chick to bleed out.
