incubator heat bulb placement suggestion?

I can probably fit 2 dozen eggs in my home made incubator. And I find it reliable, and I have the time to manually turn my eggs, and monitor them a few times throughout the day. Mine is better than a bottom line incubator.
Im rooting for you go for it and i know what u mean cuz of covid i got the time to hatch some too

I can tell you about my most recent hatch. I set 15 eggs that took a 2 hour trip and then a 20 minute drive around in a side by side (don't ask)... When they arrived (I hatched for someone else) some were stored pointy side down, some fat end down. 4 of them quit early, I couldn't say when but it was before 2/3 of the incubation period. 2 quit later, probably day 16 or maybe earlier. 9 hatched perfect sweet babies between day 20-21. I also set the very first 4 eggs my very first pullet (in this new flock) laid, which I had also stored in the fridge, again pointy end up. I had no intention of hatching them, but since I was incubating anyways... I just figured. One of hers was infertile, and the other 3 hatched little tiny perfect fluffy babies on day 21.

I believe...in the DIY incubator.

I'd put my light on the very bottom, put a cooling rack or hardware cloth or something of the sort above the heat source, perhaps just under your viewing window, as a second 'level' to your incubator, which will hold the eggs. Of course you will then need access to the bottom portion of your incubator in order to add water...but thats just what I did. There will probably be room in the bottom part for a fan as well.
good idea thank so much

Sorry I just gotta ask. Can you tell me why in the world you are using a homemade incubator when they can be had for pretty inexpensive? Seems like such a waste plus if you spend good money on eggs to hatch and you mess it up with a redneck incubator how far ahead are you really at the end of the day.
hi there.. i've successfully hatched 20 quail chicks even with the homemade incubator made out of a cardboard😃..and well we the people are not the same..i love science projects and i love making things from unwanted old stufffs...and yes i spent only 200 rupee and that will be only around 3$...and the eggs i am incubating are free eggs from my lovely female quails😄
