incubator help!!

my incubator will not keep a constant temp. every time I add water it spikes in temp and I have to turn it down. help someone!!!!

Are you adding warm or hot water? Are you taking the top off the incubator to add the water? I'm guessing that the spike is in response to the initial cooling if you are opening up the bator to add water. After you do turn it down, do you then have to turn it up a bit later? Is this EVERY time, or just recently? What day of incubation are you on?

Day 5 and it does it just when I add water, it spikes and stays there. Doesn't go back down till I decrease my temp.

What kind of incubator is it, what kind of thermostat, what are you keeping the humidity? Are you opening it up to add water? If it's a fairly new incubator, I'd contact the manufacturer. Is it possible that your thermometer is not working properly? Is it electronic or a rod type of thermometer????
