Hi there! This is my first article, so I’m pretty excited to write this! Humidity and heat, 2 most important things with incubating. If you have a broody hen, leave it to her she is the expert, but it’s up to you in the incubator.
Now, some incubator have humidity control, but some don’t, and that’s literally why I’m writing this in my yard while it rains. I’m also writing this because my dog is driving me up the wall rolling in a puddle. Anyways, if you don’t have a automatic turner, you probably will have to open your incubator to turn over the eggs, as turning over Your eggs is crucial. But that lets a lot of needed humidity escape from the incubator. To stop that, I use a spray bottle with water in it and spray the eggs a tiny bit when I open the incubator. And remember, refill your humidifier every day or whenever it needs to be refilled or the eggs will dry up!
Another thing, why is humidity so important?
Eggs cannot dry up, plain and simple. If they do,especially close to hatching, the inside of the egg will harden and the chick won’t be able to hatch. Plain and simple. Again.
Thanks for reading! 🤗
