So this is my first time incubating eggs. It was something I was doing for my 5 year old daughter. I bought a mini incubator on amazon and 6 eggs. Got to day 10 and one egg not fertile and the other no embyro. So I disgarded them. That night the heating element stopped working and that made the fan quit. So i used a heat lamp to keep them as close to 100 as I could and got a hydrometer. The humity and temp were good. I also propped the incubator lid for circulation. So today the replacement incubator came. Now we should be day 13. I lost two of the embyros while waiting on the incubator but two have some slight movements. They do not appear to have grown a whole lot in these few days and appear smaller than a normal 13 day embyro should. I set up new incubator and put them in today. Does anyone think they just got cold and were delayed and will perk up? Thanks for your help.

It's impossible to tell if any damage was done but the fact that they survived at all is a good sign. Chicken embryos can survive all sorts of malfunctions and it is usually safer for them to experience too low temperatures than too high temps. Very often chicks will hatch a couple of days late from lower temperatures without much trouble, so you should expect they may not hatch on day 21. But fingers crossed they will get there! :fl
