Incubator or desk lamp?

Thanks! You're too kind. And yes, the main reason I was considering an incubator instead was simply because I worried so much over them the last time. It was the first time though, and knowing what happened last time and still getting a good hatch should calm my nerves this go round should we decide to do it that way. I was just debating because if it means less stress, but a worse hatch, I would rather have a little stress and more chicks!

Thanks for the incubator suggestions. At least I will know of a good one should we decide to go that route!

What time of year was it when you did it? The reason I ask is because here in the summer it gets pretty humid, but in the winter it is bone dry, plus easier to keep constant temps in the house.

I think your previous hatch was great, and you should put it in the incubator contest. How many times has someone had a few eggs left in a nest when a new broody gets off too early.

It was in May, and they hatched the first week of June. I am in the South though, so I am not sure how dry it would be as opposed to the humidity. I should just get out a box and try without eggs to see what it would do. I found it difficult to keep the levels in the summer and I had a bigger swing in temp from hot to the cold air conditioned air. It would be interesting to see which would be more difficult; hopefully winter would be easier!

Thanks for pointing out the potential for seasonal changes.

It's ok... no worries! I blame it on the X-Files "Fox Moulder" for people assuming I'm a man.

It's just my name, so I used it.

I jsut gotta say this AMAZING! I do not know for sure, but I have read on here several times that Silkie eggs are hard to incubate! And you did it in a cardboard box! Sometimes a better wheel is not a wheel at all!

I hadn't heard that about the Silkies. A friend of mine told me she did it this way once and she is the one that sent me the eggs, so I tried it and it certainly seemed to work well for me, other than the stress! LOL!
