I use the sportsman 1202 I like it because it is all automated you put the eggs in and pull out chicks. What i dont like about it is it holds alot of eggs and hatches very well knock on wood.

I have to add that I really LOVE the Rcom Suro King. The only drawback is the lack of head room for hatching chicks. I think I'm going to move the eggs into my incu-kit styro bator for hatching next time. I will say, though, that if you must take the lid off to collect chicks, the temp and humidity are back up within seconds. I'm sure this is one of the reasons for having it more compact.

A.T. Hagan :

I have a Dickey 2x2, but have only just set it up to function test it prior to setting my first eggs hopefully this coming Sunday.

I'd forgotten this thread.

We set thirty five turkey eggs. One was clear so thirty four into the hatching trays. Thirty one successfully hatched for a hatch rate of 91%.

Not bad for our first ever hatch. We've got another batch of eggs in it right now.

I've always used my still air Hovabator and its earned the title "ol' reliable".. Hatched MANY eggs. Size is nice (holds lots of duck eggs). I've always had to play with it alot to get the temp right. RIP "ol' reliable" ... I now have a Little Giant (still air) and it seems to hold the temps better. Have 26 eggs in there now, so we'll see

Homemade ...... shipped eggs - as well as shipped eggs can do sometimes

On my own eggs 85% seems to be about norm. I like the room afforded inside my homemade bator to maneuver or arrange things. Hand turning as I didn't install anything automated..... but this also insures that I keep an eye on their development and monitor temps often

I think though that sometimes a homemade incubator is only as good as it's thermometer

I had some issues once because the thermometer was not working correctly and I adjusted when I didn't need to. Always employ 2 thermometers!

I'm now using a Dickey cabinet incubator. On this first run, 14 out of 15 eggs shipped in from Florida are showing nice development.
