incubator prep

the fella who is sending me some eggs said this:
You will want to start your incubator up and put jelly packs in it or quart zip bags of water so that there will not be a need to adjust temp.

what are jelly packs? does anyone know? this seems like a very good idea - because you don't want the temp to drop at any time during incubation correct?
does anyone do this and can you give a few details about what you do?

(i.e. "i fill two sandwich sized zips with water and place them in the center of the bator" - something specific like this)

Those are those things you get at restuarants (sp). They are usually by the salt and pepper and ketchup. I dont do anything like that. It seems as if when you put the eggs in you will still have a drop since they wibe cooler than the bator temps.....

..but I could be wrong.

Hi, I think the temps in the bator stay more stable if you put some water filled stuff in there, like plastic bags, I use empty small soda bottles filled with water, some use water wigglers, etc. Much less temp fluxuation.

I used small plastic water bottles, refilled with tap water in mine.

The technical term is a 'heat sink'. Since the water cools and warms slower than the air, it helps to keep temp fluctations in a more narrow range.
