i like ccanoe's idea with a remote/switched thermostat, the thermostat placed in with the eggs and switching on your heater. for the heater, i've used a small fan space heater for my brooders. i don't see why it wouldn't work for incubating too considering i placed it outside the chicks cardboard box boudoir so it was switched by outside air not that inside the box. haven't lost a chick this way. of course, they tend to keep each other warm too, and they can move around or leave the box if they want to. so a thermostat right in with the eggs sounds optimum.
i might even try the space heater idea without the remote thermostat for incubating if i can keep the temp constant. gonna require a bit of real-world testing first.
