Incubator question + terrible news

Hello everyone.
I had my second batch of button quail eggs in my homemade bator. It all went well till day
16. Two days past hatch day i started to wonder what's wrong and cracked the eggs open. Inside were dead, fully formed chicks. Some had also pipped internally. It was extremely heartbreaking what do you guys think went wrong? The same thing happened to a few chicks in the batch before too. Any suggestions from you guys would help a ton. I can correct the problem so the next batch is not a disaster again

I haven't tried to hatch quail... yet... but that happened to my ducks and chicks when humidity was too high. I started dry incubating and had much better hatches. Sorry you lost so many chicks!

Thanks a lot for the helpful comment. I think what I need is a new hydrometer
