Incubator Recommendations

Hi All,

I am new to the BYC community, but not to raising chickens. I am also new to hatching! I am getting Icelandic and Black Copper Maran eggs to hatch in a couple weeks and I need a good incubator that isn't going to break the bank. Any recommendations?????

How many eggs do you plan on hatching?

Yes, knowing how many eggs you want to hatch would be a good start to recommending what's better out there. I'm new-ish to incubation, so id like to stay tuned.

On my end, I ended up with the chinese 48 egg incubator. Only recently did I start to hear bad things about it. Then again, I didn't do enough research before hand. I have been able to successfully hatch healthy chicks, but my hatch rates are not the greatest.

The biggest issue I have with this incubator is the fact that it does not hold temperature very well. I live in a cold climate and I have to wrap a towel around it to help it hold the temp. This, and I would prefer a couple more holes or vents for ventilation and maybe an option to turn down the alarm for when temp is too low or humidity is too low.

I am getting 24 eggs to hatch. I have read and seen very mixed reviews on Little Giant and Farm Innovators which is why I am asking for recommendations.
