Incubator Shopping have Questions??? Please Help!

Thanks Everyone for your help. I ended up buying the Genesis with the Turner. Yes!!! Woohoo!!! Dh caved after reading A LOT of reviews.

Now if only I can control myself and not buy any eggs to hatch before my Bator gets here. LOL I've already been drooling over a lot of eggs and dreaming of the day I hear my own little peeps. To think, when we moved here I only wanted a few chickens for our own egg consumption. Will this addiction ever end.

You too? I had 9 banties and was ok with that. Then when one got sick I found BYC and I have been hooked ever since. I just built my incubator, and hatched out 9 mutt banties, have a broody sitting on 12, bought 5 from TSC, and bought 5 Columbian Wyandottes a few weeks ago because they are pretty. And there is only DH and I to eat eggs. Whatever was I thinking. I also bought an antique incubator that will hatch 100s of 'em once I get it restored. Summer project. Have to build a goat milking barn first

OH yeah, I have another EE hen that is trying to go broody. She is sitting on 3, but keeps changing nest boxes on me. She is driving me crazy.

My first incubator was the hovabator 1588 (it was great

) then Up upgraded to the sportsman 1502 and it's greater! LOL Loved them both though but the sportsman you can set and go and only add water every third day and if you have the 5 gal bucket...not even that often

PS. my home hatching has been 100% for the past five hatches and 90% for shipped eggs

I just got a used Lyon. You can put 100 eggs in a Lyon! Hahahahahaaaaaaaa....

I don't have eggs in it yet. The eggs will be here tomorrow.

I have it (finally) set up though. It was hard to set up, at least for me, but now it is holding temp and humidity really well.

So we'll see how it goes.

I cannot imagine having a Sportsman. Gosh.

I am glad you opted for the automatic turner. One thing I think most people forget is you dont have to open the incubator up to turn the eggs. You can simply prop one side of the incubator up on a book or brick and just alternate the book from side to side to accomplish turning. Still, this requires remembering to actually swap sides with your prop. The automatic turner lets you go about your business and not have to worry about turning when going to the store, going out to see a movie, etc.
