Hello, we are new here and new to raising chicks. I set up our new incubator yesterday and regulated the temp and everything seemed fine, but during the night (after midnight) the bator temp dropped because our house temp drops at night time.

Is this something that I need to worry about? It dropped about 2 degrees.

Should I turn the temp back up in the AM to regulate again or let it stay the way it is??

We don't have our eggs yet, so I want to try to figure this out before Tuesday.

Thanks

Is there a way to keep the temps in the room where the bator is more stable? I think that two degrees drop every night for hours will affect whether the eggs will incubate properly.

I think if we turn the baseboard heat on it might keep up the temp. I am going to try that tonight.

I am trying to get it back up to 99.5 again, turned know just a tweak, so tonight I will turn on the heater and see if that helps.

I thought about a fan and thought the bator came with one. Big surprise.

I have a boot drier that has a fan in it, will that work?? I may be able to get it out.

Thanks

am having difficulty getting the temp to stay at 99.5 again. It was there, then it went up and I had to adjust, now it is down 2 degrees.

Can I put a towel or small blanket over it/around it tonight to keep the temp up? Not wanting to turn the baseboard back on, electric bill is still outragous.

Or can we just move the bator even with eggs in it to our dining room table if we have to turn on the heat??

Thanks

That fan may work fine. Hard to say without having it in my hand.

Adding a towel probably wont help. Its not really a insulation issue. Its an issue with how the fresh incoming air mixes with warm air in the incubator. The colder the incoming air is the colder the air is at egg level.

Okay, thanks.

I am going to take that apart and see what the fan looks like, if that doesn't work, I can always go to Goodwill and buy an old computer and get the fan out of it.
