Incubator Temp going haywire

I have a little giant forced air with auto turn incubator. This is my 4th hatch. The 1st 3 were awful. Since I've discovered my built in thermometer was off and I now have a backup inside that I'm using. The built in reads about 2 degrees high which explained why I was getting partially developed chicks that weren't hatching.

Anyway...I'm on day 11 and I've been adding water with a straw through one of the vent holes so that I didn't have to open it and 2 days ago I decided to open and just pour some water in. Since doing that the temp keeps going up and down anywhere from 100.8 to 98.5 on my internal thermometer. I thought I was good yesterday but last night it was 100.5 so I lowered it. This morning it was 99.0 so i bumped it a tenth. when I left the house for work it had gone to 100.1 but I saw it go back down to 99.9 but I can't stand over it all day and night.

Are these swings enough to kills the eggs? I realize if a hen was setting that the temp wouldn't be perfect on 99.5 all the time but like I said I've had a couple bad hatches and thought I had everything figured out this time.

Any advise would be apreciated.

Humidity messes with temperature you need to figure out how your incubator re acts to the amount of water u put i learned it the super hard war since i have one of the cheapest u can buy

Also the once that hatch outside or in wild the mom can some times get up and off the eggs for up to 2 hours and such and they survive its more forgiving on a little low for a little bit then it is for higher then 101 for long periods

Also mine can take like 20 mins to adjust to what the temp will be after i add water so its the little things once u have them down you can do it all fast cuz u will know what causes what so u can go about ur day or sleep

I had a broody hen sitting on six eggs, but she stopped after a week. I collected them and put them in my incubator (not a fancy one. Just a Janoel 12). I didn't use any extra thermometers (only the built in one, which I know is never accurate) and I didn't have any hygrometers (I topped up water when it looked low). Five out of six hatched (one didn't because it was already cracked). I've done this before with 100% hatch rates too. I understand the importance on maintaining correct temperatures and humidity levels, but I think sometimes people get too caught up on it.

I can't say for sure with your eggs, but I think they should be okay. Under their mothers, they wouldn't have a constant temperature :)

Vibrancy has a duck egg setting it varies the temperature for a. Of time each day. I have wondered why chickens wouldn't have such a setting as well.
