Incubator Temp too High for 3-4 Hours----Will They be O.K.?

I just set 42 eggs (34 LF and 8 Polish) last night around 10:30. It took about 1/2 hour to 45 min. for the temp to get back up to 99.5. I checked it every 10 min until about 11:45 and it was constant at 99.5 for about 1/2 hr. so I went to bed. Got up this morning at 3:30, and the temp. was close to 110! Will my eggs be o.k. or should I just start all over? (Oh, the incubator is a still-air LG w/ turner my hubby got for me for Easter.)

Odd that it spiked like that, usually when you put that many eggs in it takes 8 hours to get back up to temp. You sure someone didn't fiddle with the thermostat trying to speed things up?

It's hard to say how hot the internal temp of eggs was and for how long. I'd let them keep turning for week then candle them. It's the only way you'll know for sure.

I would wait and see. Maybe they weren't at that temp for very long.

Both previous posters are correct. Even though the temp spiked it can take an egg hours to warm to the point of damage. I also agree with them to incubate and candle. Good luck.

I agree with the others, wait for a week, candle and see. The eggs are probably fine...good luck!

Well, actually, I was the reason it spiked---I turned the temp up a tiny bit-----this is my first time using an incubator, and I thought that if it didn't get bakc to 99.5 right away it would be bad for the eggs. Live and learn! I got it back down to the correct temp before leaving for work----I hope the eggs will be o.k. Thank you everyone for letting me know what to do.
