I've had some eggs in an older hover-bator with a wafer thermostat. I replaced the wafer with a new one. I normally check the temperature 4 or 5 times a day. I've had to make some slight adjustments up or down. I checked it this morning it was 98.6 around 7 oclock and I decided to leave it at that. I check again at 3:13 and it is 104.2 Both in the morning and this afternoon the humidity was about the same maybe 60% this morning and 65% this afternoon. Have the eggs probably been cooked? I feel like I have to baby sit this thing. BTW the incubator does have a fan.

Probably not.I've had the temperature get as high as 105-106 and they hatched. You do realize that after about day 12 the temperature rises due to the heat produced by the developing chicks.I have to adjust my Hovabator 1602 to maintain the proper temperature.

My incubator is a still air type but it maintains temperature well as long as the room temperature is at least 70 degrees.

I got tired of spending all of my time fiddling with thermostats on incubators, even $1200 tabletop incubators, it made no real difference. I bought this and I am using it with an inexpensive Hova-Bator. I have NEVER ONCE had to adjust the temperature throughout any of my hatches no matter how hot or cold it had gotten in the house. It has never gone below 99* or over 100*. I consistantly get near 100% hatches with it. It is not cheap at $100, but it was one of the best $100 that I ever spent. You set it and forget it.
