incubator temps.

This is our first batch. Day 15 eggs started moving. Day 16 heard chirping. Day 17 cracks in eggs. Day 18 Finally getting chicks. Heres my question. The top Thermometer reads higher than the inside one. Is this normal? Please help. 3 Chicks now, 1 has died, several more close to coming out.

I wouldn't say this is normal, but i wouldn't say it's abnormal. I'm split.

The mother hen's outward temp for her eggs is about 106 degrees. Not sure what else to tell ya. Hope my bit of info was helpful. By now however, your chicks have most likely all hatched! LOL! welcome into the home, baby chickies!

I would judge temp from inside the incubator rather than on the dial.
