My bator was at 100 degrees for a couple of days but this morning the weather got warmer and the temp jumped to 103. It's so frustrating! What should i do? I have a sealed glass jar with water in there too. Any suggestions from you guys would help a lot. Thanks

Get a thermostat, even if it's a cheap water heater one and calibrate it to the proper temp, so the light cycles on/off...

The water heater one above has about a 4° swing but that is better then no control... If you get it dialed in to swing from 98° to 102° internal egg temp will be about 100° for $9 it's worth every penny...

I just built a hatcher using one of these, can't say I would use it as my primary incubator but it holds pretty darn well for a cheap build...

Placing the incubator in the spot with the most stable temperature in your house helps too. Don't keep it in sunlight, or in a room with loads of windows. A basement or windowless room in the middle of the house would work best.

I built my incubator out of a styrofoam cooler and the first 2 hatches I controlled temp with a dimmer switch... it wasn't summer yet and I had to check it constantly... I mean... obsessively. I just got a $13.00 thermostat off of ebay (recommended by someone on here) and it is much easier than a hot water heater thermostat... it controls temp within one degree. I love it! Now I can do other things while incubating... like working... to pay for more eggs, of course! Here is a link to a similar one, they are really easy to wire. I got one that was 90 to 220V so I just wired an extension cord to it so I can plug in what ever heat source I want to use.

(Now I see Mehjr10 recommended the same one!!)
