All right, I'm confused and I need some answers, lol. I've just made my own cabinet incubator, and it's been running for three days. So far, so good, except for the temperature. The temperature is different between the water wiggler and the temp. outside of it. The water wiggler is always warmer. Right now, the incubator is reading 98.1, while the wiggler is 99.7 (which I have read is the perfect temperature underneath a mother hen). So, my question is... should I ignore the water wiggler temperature and just try and get the outside temperature to 99-100 or should I go ahead and put my eggs in now? Which temperature is more important? Today is the seventh day of collecting eggs, so I need to know soon! Thanks in advance for any answers!

I've got a question... How can the inside of the water wiggler be warmer than it's surrounding environment? Is it generating it's own heat????....

It sounds to me like one of the thermometers is not accurate. Possibly neither of them are accurate. I would strongly suggest that you insert a medical thermometer (the kind you stick in your mouth to check for a fever) into the wiggler and see what temperature it reads.

You might want to check this thread out...it starts out dealing with the hygrometer aspect and moves on to the thermometer part...

Here's another one about thermometers....
Its FINALLY here!!---incubator temp issues on genesis

Until you know the accuracy of your digital thermometers it's hard to tell what's going on with your incubator. The water wiggler being warmer than it's environment tells me that the thermometer readings should definitely be deemed suspicious and not depended on until their variance from a more precise thermometer is determined. Once the variance is determined then it's easy to add or subtract a degree or fraction of a degree from the digital readout.

Best wishes,
Ed

Thanks for the reply, Intheswamp! I'll read these threads and do what you suggested. I had never thought that my thermometer might not be accurate. *sighs*

I dont know but is it possible its warmer becuase it dosnt change as fast as the out side air, maybe switch what therm is in it and see what happens
