Hi. My name is Tess and I am new here. My son would like to incubate chicken eggs for his school science project. Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations as to where to get an incubator and which one is the best. Thanks so much!

Hi :welcome Tess

Glad you could join the flock! A lot depends on how much you want to babysit the incubator. Some are set and forget and some require more attention as in turning the eggs manually at least 3 times per day. I would say buy the best you can afford and double check the temp and humidity settings with a thermometer and hygrometer that you know to be correct. Have a drop by the reviews section, here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/category/egg-incubators
It should give you some ideas on what differing incubators can provide.

Wishing you the very best of luck in the future. Be sure to ask any questions that you may have, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC :frow

Hi Tess, welcome to BYC!

That sounds like a good science project for your son. Do you plan to keep the chicks that hatch?

The Learning Center has good information on incubating eggs and how to raise chicks. Here's a link to get you there:

Good luck to your son with his project and if either of you have questions, feel free to ask.

Welcome to the BYC flock! We are very glad you decided to join us!

Please let us know how his science project turns out. Is it for a science fair? If so, what hypothesis is he working off of?
