Incubators Anonymous

Is step 3 figuring out how to keep him from noticing the new pen? If so I'm progressing nicely! :giggig

My husband is a hatching enabler and a chicken limiter

My wife is awesome. We have taken this entire chicken journey together, and she enjoys it as much as I do. She loves hatching and brooding the babies and landscaping around the coops. As long as I build the housing, the sky is the limit on chickens. I think we both need help

I know you got to do what you got to do to get along with your spouse----But being a Husband, that cares for my Wife and she for me------Chicks is My hobby, but she supports me and my 62 chicken pens, 19 heated brooders, 5 cabinet incubators, many styrofoam incubators and the $400 last months electric bill. She keeps buying a pair of bantams---she likes them, If "WE" can afford it and she wanted 50 more chicken pens for herself---I would get to work on it for her today-----she does so much for me----cooking, cleaning, washing, etc selling chicks/chickens/rabbits from our home-----and what She Wants or Wants to do Is Fine with me. I am sure this should be posted else-where----But I am just Sharing My feelings for my chicken supporter and I deeply Appreciate Her!!!

Thats my dream that my husband would go as chicken and turkey crazy as I am! We built our chicken house and pen together and that was great but no way will I get him to do more! He figures one is enough and no more.

You should post pics of your pens and give me some ideas.

nope is sounds like you both have a healthy relationship and love of chickens! I'm jealous lol

Well at least your 1/2 way there! I have a looooong way to go!
I just happen to have a second coop sitting empty (long story) and I'm wondering if he would notice another flock if I started using it...

i am trying to figure out how to get my husband addicted! There has to be a way!

I've been using the same old incubator forever.
My husband, trying to be nice, bought me a "better" digital one.
After only getting blood rings during candling I bought another external thermometer, and it's running at 104! No wonder everything is dying. I can't figure out a way to alter the settings on it either, it automatically goes to what it thinks is 99.5

So going back to my old incubator. Lost over a month's worth of hatches though

Hello Dutch Bunny,
Dear souls, are you sure that you haven't overlooked some obscure mechanism for resetting the temperature? Have you carefully scrutinized the instructions? If so call the manufacturer's Help Line at which they should be able to tell you how - it's their cotton picking device! Have never heard of an incubator of any kind not being adjustable! It just doesn't make sense. Tell them either reveal the method or you want your money back, including your fair and modest fee for handling and shipping. That ought to get their attention. Should they decline tell them that you will reveal their sordid machine to the entire membership of BYC, and the BBB, for starters That will cut into their ill gotten gains! (Non adjustable my left hind foot!)
I wish you great triumph and happiness in your (our?) chicken addiction,
Neal, the Zooman

Has anyone ever used a older scientific incubator for hatching chicks? I have a chance to get one that they used for collecting horse....! Well I won't finish that but I think you get the picture! Would love some input please! Thank you!
