Ok, I came home to one more CLC so I'm up to 7 now. 2 more pipping. What is your total? I can't remember.

(And I'm mad at these 2 Millie eggs... )

are you sure it's clc? i didn't see that as a possibility on her list... cmc - calico/mille or slc - silver laced...

i got 1 calico, 3 black/lav, 4 silver laced. and openned the quitters, they were fully grown, yolk sacs gone, and internally pipped. and that's it.

and that other dorking, danged if she didn't do the same as her sister...

you know the funny thing? those dorking eggs aren't huge, but the cochin eggs were. those chicks are almost as big as the dorkings.

It was a CMC. I wrote it down right and then typed it wrong. I also woke up to one more. I need to look at the egg when I open the bator. I'm letting him fluff up a little more. So I'm up to 11.

I don't have the guts to open the quitters. Eek. I'll just assume they look like yours. I know I had one last night I could hear pecking but it never pipped.

ETA: You aren't going to believe this. I just went out to check on the new one and I have a BARC pipping. Good grief!

yeah mine took a bit longer than the last bunches have too... wonder if its because the eggs were so big LOL
bantam cochin egg the same size as my dorking eggs - granted the dorkings lay fairly small eggs (usda medium) for such a large bird but still!

I seem to remember reading bigger eggs take a little longer . . .

LG w/ PC fan is reading different temps in different areas. Hoping to mitigate the problem by rotating the top of the LG.

I love turning the eggs, the marans eggs are so pretty. Feeding a broody is easier!

Rain and more rain:p enough already! My neighbor has happy ducks at least. I need to go look and see if I hatched anything late today. What have you got hatching? Deb

For Christmas, I asked for a new incubator. I wanted the Hovabator 1588. I was told to order it last night. i found it on Eggcartons.com for 129. I also received a coupon code for 20 percent off and free shipping. I got it for 103.

I may be setting eggs Dec 26 , is that wrong?

Not wrong at all. You need to test it in case it is defective, right? Then once you plug it in, you need to keep it running so it doesn't go getting rusty in the closet. Hatch on! Deb

And just testing it ONCE does nothing.

You gotta do a double-blind test!

So as soon after the first babies hatch, fill 'er up again with more eggs and test that 'bator a second time.

Of course, you "may" have to conduct additional tests under new circumstances using new eggs . . .
