I have been heating it over night, 95 is the temp I got, I will play with it, today...hoping for 102 best for still air...o

Omg! I was kind of joking about the skillet incubator. How are you going to turn the eggs without losing heat/humidity? I sure will be interested in knowing if you hatch any!

I have always thought the same. I hear so much about never opening the incubator if you can help it, and not only during lockdown. Kern

I dry hatch.
my chicks look like this at hatch time...I think it depends on your incubator too. still air is best for dry hatch. read up on it.

You can also take vinegar and cotton swabs and make two windows one on the end for the light to shine into and one on the side for viewing. Dip the swab in the vinegar and then rub in a circular motion to remove some of the brown off the egg. Wipe with paper towel. This also helps because the super dark eggs sometimes have trouble loosing enough fluid and you get drowned chicks. So taking off some of the coating can actually raise you hatch rate on the super dark eggs.

Thanks, Is a dime size the size of the window that I make or larger? I am guessing not using ACV for this? Thursday is candling day and yesterday I separated the so called clears in one tray and the ones that I could not see through in the other tray. We will see on Thursday.

I am refitting a homemade incubator with new sealing for the door, new thermostat, a special sponge for the water, and since I can't find my humidity probe I guess I will order a new one of those. I am saving up for a reptile humidifier because the machine is outside and pumps in the humid air. You just refill the water bottle and screw it into the machine without having to open the incubator. You set it at the humidity you want it to hold at and it dose the rest. I am also adding a fan that can pump in outside air in case of a temp spike. The thermostat controls that as well. I hope to have it all running by the end of Febuary, well maybe not with the reptile humidifier but all the rest.

Have you tried those fogger/misters that you sit in a bowl and they either mist or fog? I have seen them on Amazon really cheap. I have never used one.

I have a very dark egg that only now that it is ready to hatch I can even tell it's alive. I am excited because it will be the grandchild of this roo who is no longer with us.

As u can see. Regular humidifier and plugged in to control. Biggest problem is finding one that can be modified to use the hose on. Usually set it to keep humidity between 50-52% and about 68-70% on lockdown

I ended up buying one on amazon for about $10. It should arrive on Thursday which is day 18 for the eggs but we will see how it works. I have a plug that is attached to my WH8040 humidity controller that I can plug it into that. I currently have two fish tank air machines that I am currently using which work great but they work hard trying to keep up at lockdown humidity.
